Campervan Hire in Scotland and North England

Faqs

The campervan can accommodate up to seven people in a family group.  Sleeping arrangements include: a King size bed above cab, 2 large single bunk beds at rear of van, a 3/4  size double bed which can be made up where the table area is, and a smaller single bed (suitable for a small child).

There are full blackout blinds, some curtains where required and fly screens for the windows. Internal bedroom curtains give extra privacy at night. A curtain around the cabin area is ideal when changing within the van and gives added privacy.

The space can be tailored to suit: ie we remove excess cushions if fewer than seven people are to travel, to give as much space as possible.

Your camper van is fully loaded with central heating, a large fridge/freezer, sink, gas oven and grill, 2 gas rings, 1 electric ring for cooking.  You will have a full selection of cutlery, crockery, cups, glasses, wine glasses, and utensils to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

There is a shower cubicle within the bathroom, electric flush toilet, hot and cold water.  Also there is wardrobe space and overhead storage for your other extras.

For safety your motorhome has both a carbon monoxide and a smoke alarm fitted.

Within the van there are a number of USB ports to allow for charging or use of phones and tablets.  There is LED lighting throughout, that alows you to set the mood within the van.  There is blue lighting around the lower section of the van as well as an outside light by the habitation door.

We supply mattress protectors for all required beds.

There is a dust pan and brush, and in the garage area we supply fire extinguisher, 4 camp chairs and a folding table, food grade filler hose, levelling ramps, spare wheel, jack and wheel brace, there is a clothes line, with pegs, bungee straps, electric hook up cable, and adjustable spanner for your gas bottle.  There are full sets of external and internal thermal covers for the front windows.

There is a rack for 4 bikes on the rear of the van.

We supply your motorhome with a full tank of fuel, and it comes with an LPG bottle for heating and cooking.

Most campsites stock gas and some local shops and garages.

We ask that the van is filled with fuel before returning and if you have run out of gas when away that this is replaced by you or an extra charge will be made.

We check, clean and disinfect our motorhomes every time they are returned to us so that they are compliant with Covid19 regulations.

For this reason, please bring your own bedding, sheets, duvets, pillows, pillowcases and towels and please keep the motorhome interior clean while you are away, to ensure you receive your full deposit back.

Yes, you can bring your dogs, and many people do.

Depending on the number of people in the van the lower rear bunk can be folded up to create a larger garage space that would be suitable to put a travel cage into or dog bedding, it is the  responsibility of the hirers to bring any required restraints for travelling

There is an extra charge for cleaning, and if damage/chewing occurs, which if necessary would be taken out of holding deposit but if value of damage is above the holding deposit amount any further costs would be met by you (the hirer).

A TV is not supplied, since most campers are happy to bring their own laptops, tablets and mobile phones and there are plenty of USB points for this purpose.

When on electric hook up (shore power) at a campsite you are free to bring your own small TV/DVD player, but be aware it will need a booster aerial especially in remoter areas if you wish to watch terrestrial programmes.

On the whole, a motorhome trip is a chance for the family to do something different together, read books, play games or watch the night sky, distant dolphins playing.... its a chance to try a new hobby, drawing, crafting, fishing, have a barbecue under the stars...(off the grass of course)!

But personally, we discovered the joy of card games, and discovered the hidden talents for Poker faces amongst our kids!

If you travel far enough North, you will possibly see the Northern Lights. A sight never to be forgotten.

We offer a discount rate for our hardworking NHS staff and our emergency service personnel (Fire, Ambulance, Police,Coastguard) provided they hold a valid up to date ID card.

We politely ask you to please empty and clean the toilet before you return your vehicle - as if you do not an extra charge will be made.  Toilet chemicals are provided.

You MUST be careful to only empty a chemical toilet at an appropriate chemical waste disposal point which is usually to be found at an official campsite and at some tourist spots such as Loch Lomond.

If you go really wild, far from anywhere, take a trowel and bury waste including toilet paper AT LEAST 25 yards from a water source.  Do not use chemicals if you do this but flush with plain water and empty frequently.  You can use chemicals when you are back to civilisation again.

Please see https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/practical-guide-all/camping for more detailed information!

Please follow the country code to ensure that camper vans and holiday makers are a blessing, not a blight on the local area, so that we can all continue to enjoy the freedom of wild camping spots.

When touring you will have a large tank capacity in the motorhome - 100 litres - which is usually sufficient for a couple of days at least and this has a water purifier fitted.

You will be able to fill up with water from any camp site or if you ask nicely, from a garage if there is a tap available.

There are often water taps available for walkers to top up bottles at various spots.

Some garages offer free water fill-ups, which is fine for washing up and showers, but this can occasionally come from underground tanks with some additives and vary in taste, so for complete safety we recommend that you buy fresh drinking water very cheaply from supermarkets, and keep some spare bottles back for emergencies.

As for not wasting water when bathing:  you will soon learn that when it comes to showers, the wild camping routine tends to be, wet, lather, rinse, turning the tap off between each phase.

Taking 20-minute showers can make family members rather unpopular... but you will soon get the hang of saving water and keeping clean to a fine art so the water goes further.

At a camp site, there are usually full facilities for showers, and water taps available. Water weighs a lot, so, to save fuel on a long journey, if you know you will end up on a camp site, try travelling with an empty water tank.

We suggest, to keep your motor home clean and avoid a big frantic cleaning marathon on the last day, it is great to involve the whole family and give everyone a job to do every time you stop at a garage.

One adult of course will fill the tank with diesel, while another adult can shop and pay for it

Someone else empties bins, another can sweep the floors.

Someone can quickly blitz the bathroom and even the smallest child can find a little job to do.

Teamwork can be fun especially if there are treats from the garage to share at the end!
